Scott Waller, IOM Senior Vice President of Public Affairs

Scott Waller, IOM, is Senior Vice President of Public Affairs.
He joined the Mississippi Economic Council in 2006 and oversees government affairs and communications. Scott serves as MEC's chief lobbyist at the State Capitol.
He has completed the Institute for Organization Management program, an intensive four-year nonprofit leadership training program held at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
Prior to joining MEC, he served as business editor at The Clarion-Ledger for four years. Under his leadership, the newspaper won numerous awards for its coverage of the WorldCom accounting scandal, the opening of Nissan’s automotive plant in Canton, and the defunct state-backed Mississippi Beef Processors. Waller spent a total of 15 years at the newspaper, working in the sports, non-dailies and news divisions. He also has business experience as owner and editor of the Madison County Journal and was co-owner of Siwel Homes, a residential construction company.
Prior to moving to the Jackson area, Waller was sports editor and a sports writer for the Commercial Dispatch in Columbus and sports editor of the Island Packet newspaper in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Scott is a native of Shubuta, Miss. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, with an emphasis in business and communications.
He is a member of the Leadership Madison County Board of Trustees and a member of the Executive Board of the Andrew Jackson Council Boy Scouts of America.
Scott lives in Madison with his wife, Kim, and son, Shane.
