Entergy Mississippi recently donated $100,000 for educational programming at The Salvation Army’s new Corps Community Center, which is in the final stages of construction. The money will be used to bring transformation to the Jackson community through education, the arts, and sports programs which will be offered at the Beasley Road complex opening January 2012. "We are so grateful for Entergy Mississippi and how they have so graciously given to us time and time again. With this donation our educational programming will be truly lay a strong foundation that will change the lives of children, adults and seniors in our community.” said Captain Ken Chapman. “The Salvation Army is a very valued, longtime partner of Entergy Mississippi’s in helping our low-income elderly and disabled customers get needed help in paying their bills,” said Haley Fisackerly, president and CEO of Entergy Mississippi, Inc. “Their dedicated workers treat our seniors and disabled customers fairly and with dignity when they come looking for a helping hand. We appreciate this, and it is in honor of this service to our senior customers that we’re donating $100,000 to help make the Salvation Army Corps Community Center a reality. We know this contribution will be a wise investment in our community.” The check presentation was made Oct. 3 during a media "sneak preview" at the Corps Community Center. Director Tiffiney Gray and Program Director Cassio Batteast were on hand to give tours and answer questions about the new facility and the program. |
