Momentum Mississippi is a statewide, public, private partnership dedicated to the development of economic and employment opportunities in Mississippi. We are a one-stop shop for ideas, information, and status reports. Our common goal is to bring new investments, jobs, and quality education to Mississippi. We strive to develop strategies and legislation that promote a positive business climate in our state.

Address the state’s economic and educational development needs

Momentum Mississippi is working to improve Education; Existing Business Support; Technology Development and Transfer; Workforce Development and Training; Tourism and Film; Business Image and Climate; Economic Growth and Diversification; and International Trade.

Building a Blueprint for Success

Momentum Mississippi, along with the Mississippi Economic Council and the Mississippi Partnership for Economic Development, have teamed up to launch Blueprint Mississippi 2011, a project designed to update the existing plan and explore new areas of opportunity. The plan will identify and implement actionable recommendations that will lead to economic growth and vitality and help to realize the vision of a vibrant and resilient Mississippi. The planned completion date is early fall 2011.

Mississippi

Momentum Mississippi is a public-private partnership formed in 2004 by Governor Haley Barbour to address the state’s long term economic strategy.

By activating and strengthening the Statewide Economic Development Planning Act of 1987, the privately-funded Momentum Mississippi has worked to improve many aspect of Mississippi's economic competiveness by builidng on what is set forth in Mississippi Code that suggests:

“…the economic development of the state should be strategically, comprehensively and exhaustively planned…[and] the state should foster open communication between government and the private sectors of our economy and that the state should provide a policy, a vision and a framework to encourage an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and rapid development in the State of Mississippi.”
